About Snowflake High School

To truly become “educated,” we believe students must develop skills and abilities to become engaged citizens and leaders. The development of these abilities requires that one develops, creates, refines, or constructs:

  • a personal and creative vision of how you intend to make the world a better place for yourself, your family, your friends, and others;
  • the analytical skills to explain why your vision or that of others is a good one;
  • the practical intellectual skills to be able to execute your vision and persuade others of its value; and
  • the wisdom to ensure that their goals and ideas truly represent the common good so that many benefit; not just themselves or their friends or their family.

Our unique take on education allows our students to expand their knowledge and not just have a bucket full of facts and figures that will be forgotten or outdated within a few days, months, or years. Our students do not just learn how to use text to fill out a worksheet; they understand what the text actually means and how it relates to other topics and subjects. Our teachers teach in a way that excites the students, so the students are not just learning how to memorize and select answers on a multiple choice test. We’ve found that finding techniques to truly engage the student is much more beneficial than just helping our students regenerate text from a textbook. These techniques prepare our students not only for college but also for future problem solving in their careers.

Philosophy of Education

Students are our number one priority at Snowflake High School. We believe all students can learn. We have high expectations for all students whether they are destined for college, technological training, or immediate employment. We believe students should be challenged to develop the skills of life-long learning, which will enable them to compete in a dynamic, diverse society.

We believe students should be treated as individuals with rights and responsibilities. All students have the right to attend school in a safe environment and to gain an education in order to lead a successful rewarding life.

We believe our school belongs to the community with education being a cooperative effort among students, faculty, staff, parents, and community. It is our collective responsibility to provide programs and activities that will help us achieve our common vision.

    Meet Our Mascot

    Lobo is Spanish for wolf. The wolf is sly, skillful, courageous, and always a leader. If you are a member of our community, then you understand why we are the Lobos! In athletics, our athletes display skill and courage against every opponent. Our students use their creativity to define their own path and are not just satisfied following the crowd. Upon graduation, our students will have the courage and skills they need to be the leader of the pack among their high school classmates, at the collegiate level, and in their careers.
