An unexcused absence is any absence from one or more class periods, which has not been excused by a parent according to the procedures in the attendance policy. Students should NEVER leave campus without first having a parent or guardian call the attendance office (Ext. 7512) and getting it approved and put into Infinite Campus. If a student leaves campus before this happens, it is considered a "ditch" and/or an "unauthorized departure", both of which have discipline consequences attached. Furthermore, a parent will not be able to excuse this type of an absence after the fact, in most circumstances. The only exception to this rule is if a student was absent an entire school day. The day the student returns to school, a parent/guardian may excuse them with a call, email, or written note.
